Dreamball
Korean studio Unplug Design have come up with a really great design concept called Dreamball. They have re-designed the United Nations aid packages so that they can be pulled apart and re-assembled into balls of various sizes. That way, not only do people in third world countries get food and supplies, but also a bit of fun for the kids. What a seriously great idea.

Saint Cloud Store Opening
There's a cool new store opening down in Melbourne this Friday night called Saint Cloud. The store meshes together owner Nick Mahoney's love of streetwear and fixed gear bikes, featuring labels Mishka, CTRL, our buddies Limedrop, and good ol' us. Plus there's a heap of custom built bikes and cycling brands such as Gorilla, Nitto, and Cinelli. The party kicks off at 6pm and appears to be sponsored by a couple of very nice beer companies, so if you're in Melbourne this weekend make sure you check it out.

Mauricio Ortiz's Animalia
I came across the work of a London-based Costa Rican artist Mauricio Ortiz the other day and instantly fell in love. His Animalia series is particularly rad, grafting different species together with an old school Enyclopedia Britannica style of illustration. I must have a thing for genetic misfits at the moment (see my post on Kate Clark's mutant taxidermies from last week).
I gotta get this guy to design a tee for us soon!
Check out more of Mauricio's work at his website.

Here's the trailer for a new surreal skate film called Machotaildrop. Canadian filmmakers Corey Adams and Alex Craig won a million bucks in a Fuel TV short film competition, and this is the result of what they did with it. No release date for Aus yet but stay tuned. Can't wait to see it!

Kate Clark
Kate Clark's sculptures are Creepy with a capital C. These mutant taxidermies are straight out of one of my nightmares. Love 'em.

Man, I love this band. They're a bunch of kids from Austin, Texas, who play ramshackle garage rock. Gotta love a band who have sense of humour and don't give a shit. In terms of their influences, they say "the only band we like is nirvana. the only album we like is nevermind. the only song we like is smells like teen spirit." Haha but uh, yeah, I guess think somewhere along the lines of The Strange Boys or The Black Lips.
This is a song from their new album, 'Hippies', and if you like it make sure you grab a copy of their first album 'Free Drugs' too because it's fucking rad.

December's new designs
With all the crazy shit going down pre-christmas, we never got around to posting about the latest Das Monk designs. It was dubbed our "Chill-wave range" by a couple of friends because of the spaced out imagery and washed out colours, but we just wanted everyone to get down to some nice hazy designs over the summer. Das Monk and fan favourite Tim Laing (UK) returns with a couple of his insane surreal pencil sketches, first time Das Monk collaborators Rene Cruz (US) and Shannon Keller (US) joined the party with an abstract watercolour print and an awesome hairy comic dude respectively, and as always, there were a couple of my designs floating in there too.
"Snapple" - Tim Laing
"Harwell" - Rene Cruz
"Surf's Up, Spicoli" - Shannon Keller
"Planet of the Dreamers" - Marc Hendrick
"High Times" - Tim Laing
"Telex" - Marc Hendrick
