The Price - Dappled Cities

The amazing new video for Dappled Cities' "The Price". I must be a little obsessed with all things light this week (see Picasso's light drawings below). I'm like a moth I guess.

Picasso's Light Drawings

50378939.jpg

I have found so much cool stuff in the LIFE magazine photo archives since they were added to the google image database. In fact, the main part of the collage in our Rear Window print was a photo from the LIFE archives. Anyway, here's another great find from 1949, with a series of photos of Picasso "drawing" in a dark room with a small flashlight.

Click here to see the full series.

Dinosaur Jr - See You

Dinosaur Jr are one of my all time favourite bands, and their new album 'Farm' (back with their original line up) is pretty damn good - it's up there with their late 80s stuff which I still listen to all the time. This song (See You) hasn't really been featured on many blogs, maybe because it's one of the last tracks, but it has been on repeat in the studio all day. Can't stop listening to the bugger.

Go out to your local record store and grab a proper copy so you can see the rad cover art up close.

Buy-Tees review

logo.gif

It's been about a month since this review, but we didn't have a blog back then, and this review is way too good to pass up. Paul and Chris from Buy-Tees (an online t-shirt review magazine from the UK) are t-shirt designers themselves, and they put so much critical analysis into each design review that it makes us feel like each design we create is a work of art... which is very gratifying I have to say! Paul is a fantastic writer, and always puts forth his own spin and personal recollections when talking about each design, which is really nice to hear because it sheds a whole new light on my designs that I had never even thought of.

Check out the review here. And reviews of our older collections here and here.

Still Life... help save FBi!

still-life-invite1.jpg

As I'm sure many of you Sydneysiders know, our most beloved alternative radio station FBi is in a bit of financial strife, and is in danger of closing down. One of the ways that they're raising money is by having an art auction fundraiser on Friday July 3 at the MCA Foundation Hall, and we're really happy to be a part of it! We will be donating some t-shirts to the auction, as will some of our favourite artists/ designers Elke Kramer, Hana Shimada, Kris Moyes, and We Buy Your Kids. And plenty more of course (see the invite below). Everyone is welcome, just RSVP to still-life@fbiradio.com by Wednesday July 1.

Listen to FBi online here.

SAVE FBi!!!!

TV on the Radio in Das Monk

kyp.jpg

I can't lie to you. I have been obsessed with Kyp Malone's head for a long time. The almight bearded bass player with the high falsetto is a bit of an icon to me. And yes okay you can probably even throw the word 'man-crush' around.

So it was fucking cool to be able to snap him wearing our Mount Hexx tee after TV on the Radio's most recent Sydney shows earlier this year. Throw in a man in a giant sequined blue bunny suit and you have my favourite photo of the year right here.

The Clean - Anything Could Happen

I just found out this morning that the best band ever to come out of New Zealand, The Clean (don't hurt me, Crowded House fans) is releasing their first album in 8 years called Mister Pop. Yeuwww. There's more about it over at this really choice bro (couldn't help it) NZ music blog called Einstein Music Journal, and you can even listen to their first single from the album, which is a little gem. But I thought I'd post my all time favourite song by The Clean, 'Anything Could Happen' right here.

The Vine

We got a nice little write up on The Vine the other day by our favourite Australian fashion blogger, Kat George. If you want to read more of Kat's very honest-slash-hilarious views on the fashion world, go check out her blog Style Lines here.
